a million years ago, i was put on the wait list at ithaca college. But, as you know, the waiting is the hardest part, so i decided to go somewhere else. BIG MISTAKE. But i've finally made it back to Ithaca, only this time, not into the hallowed halls and quads of the small school, fore'er overshadowed by its snooty ivy-covered bro. but rather into an atomic lounge, not just any atomic lounge, but felicias. I'll be clinging to Steph's skirts and pleading relevance. look out ladies, here i come.

steph and i are playing in schenectady with a young band of teens on the bill as well. it should be a who's who of the capital area, as i've hired newly unemployed eliot spitzer to handle the guest list. lets see if clients 1-8 are in the hizzy.

Well hello there, dorkateers and ex dorkateers remember me? i used to sing some songs and flirt innapropriately with your girlfriend.

well, i've been away. some of you know, and some of you may not know. I guess since it's all in the past, i can come, if not comepletely clean, than a little less filthy than i used to be.

Ok, i can share this with you, but you all have to promise not to spread it around, American lives are at stake.

around 2005 a black helicopter landed on my roof, it was 10am, so obviously they woke me up. i was whisked away to langly or maybe it was Qatar, it's kind of a blur.

anyway, i was frightented and indignant, (not to mention underdressed) I launched into a tirade about how my stupid songs are protected free speech and how this was obscene and you can't crack down on those critical of the government and I was going on a hunger strike as soon as i finish the last of the MRE's you've given me and crispus attucks and lenny bruce and steven biko and and and....that's when i met him.

senator warhero john "WALNUTS" McCain. He told me he was a fan of my work...um...really?

see, he had been carefully chippng away at his mavericiocity in order to fit it through the oval office door and a particularly stubborn chunk seemed to be his aversion to torture, even of brown people. He's since made peace with this issue, but in the ambivlant days of '05 this was a weight on his soul.

Approached by a lobbyst who had acutally seen me play at Iota back in the day had bought a record and done some testing. and it turns out, as i'm sure many of you already know, that listening to folk music in general and my songs particularly will actually elicit the same brainwave patterns as waterboarding. The detainees will do anything to stop the music. They'll give up crucial information, they'll confess to assasinations of people not yet dead. They'll eat bacon. they'll say the S'hema. Anything, just make that whiny fuck stop his singing.

At first i was reluctant to engage in this, but the money was pretty good and frankly, i've never had as big a draw, or as captive an audience. they gave me my own hummer to drive around , an exxon gas card with no limit, and roadies supplied by blackwater. it was a good gig, but as with all good gigs, eventually, they come for my piano.

one night i was offered a turkish coffee and a turkish massage and i woke up in germany. about a month after that i was found wandering the streets of philadelphia with a beard and filthy camo fatigues.

I was only recognized by steph as she was busking on the street and i was drawn by her wonderful songs. i reached into a dirty cargo pocket in my fatigues to attempt to give her some change but all i could add to her tip jar was some sand.

as i began to walk away, she told her drummer to take a solo and ran after me. She nursed me back to health and actually taught me all of my old songs.

i've been googling myself, to figure out exactly who i am, and with the exception of a few ex girlfriend's blogs, i seem to be an alright guy. I'm looking forward to being at one of my shows, they sound like fun.

So, dear people, to sum up, i'm back from a couple years working in black ops keeping the world safe for the corporations. and now i'm back to play songs to you loyal fuckers who used to enjoy such things.

tonight were gonna party like its 2002 or so.

anyway, if you aren't bogged down by kids or a dead end job or bell's palsy. i'd love to see some of you at the shows.

note this is just a toe dip for me, but if i like it, i'm gonna play more and more and more, until i reach whatever town you may or may not live in at the moment.

maybe it'll be fun like it used to be. who knows.

below is the press release for the tour.

Adam Brodsky & Steph Hayes

met at an open mic in a dark Philadelphia basement bar and Immediately feigned respect for each other's songs. That feigned respect turned very real very quickly, and they have each been an invaluable artistic sounding board, inspiration and motivator for the other.

Is it in that spirit of respect for the parallel crafts of songwriting and performing that the two have decided to hit the road and play a few of those songs for anyone who cares to leave the comfort of their own couch and listen for a little while.

"By the very nature of the occupation you play countless shows with other acts that, euphemistically speaking, are not your cup of tea. So it's such a pleasure to be playing night after night with Steph whom I respect and admire so much"

Since the break up of her old band, Stargazer Lily, Steph has been as busier than a bonesaw at Bull Run, playing solo as well as with several bands including her bands The Good Problems and Shooting Ropes as well as with Mike Brenner's Stylized, Style-defying enterprise Slo-Mo. She's become a hardened road dog and a brilliant and captivating performer but most importantly, with her latest release "Dirty Beauty" Hayes has really reached her stride as a songwriter. Lyrically these songs show a confidence and maturity that belie Hayes' actual age.

Adam, on the other hand, has thousands of shows under his belt, having played in all 50 states and performed for over 75,000 people (mostly 25 at a time). After a brief respite from the constant touring accidentally turned into a hiatus that made many people question if he had retired, (or died even), The Dork is going back to what he does best. That is writing and performing songs for literally dozens of adoring idiots.

This first trip for Mr. Brodsky is just a short "how've ya been" type tour. A few new shows, a few old friends, hopefully some new ones.

Outside of Philadelphia, or outside of their respective living rooms, It is a rare treat to be able to see both of these gifted performers on the same bill. These shows will be special and if you miss them, you'll probably find a hollow place in your soul, but it will be too late.

Don't say you weren't warned.
